Die Brücke portfolio

Portfolio from 1909 with prints published by the German artist group Die Brücke (1905-1913). Contains works by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff.

Every year it formally existed, the German artist group Die Brücke (1905-1913) published a folder of graphics which were distributed to a fairly modest number of members; collectors, friends and other interested parties who contributed with an annual fee of 12 mark; which gradually increased to 25 mark.

At the time the group was dissolved, in 1913, there were 68 members. Normally, several artists cooperated on the folders. However, this fourth folder, was the first one dedicated to one of them, namely Karl Schmidt-Rottluff (1884-1976). In addition to his two lithographs and one etching, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880-1938) made a color woodcut as a cover for the folder.

The folder is deposited at the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, Oslo.
