Eszter Elias
Eszter Elias is 18 years old and plays the violin. She grew up in Hungary but moved to Sweden nine years ago. She has been studying at Lilla Akademiens Musikgymnasium in Stockholm, where she has had many opportunities to develop her musical skills. In addition to solo work, she has performed in orchestras, ensembles, and chamber music groups. In several of these, she has also had the chance to play solo. In 2023, she received Ingrid and Per Welin’s scholarship and has been nominated for the Royal Academy of Music’s youth scholarship in 2024. Eszter has participated in masterclasses with the Marmen Quartet, Priya Mitchell, Hugo Ticciati, Eszter Perényi, and Julia Kretz-Larsson, and she has taught lessons both inside and outside the school.
With her quartet, where she plays first violin, they have performed at events such as the Swedish Parliament’s Opening Ceremony, where all major politicians and the royal family were present. The quartet has been nominated for the Bifrost Order scholarship two years in a row and won the O/Modernt scholarship to Estonia.
She began playing the violin at the age of seven at Zoltán Kodály’s Hungarian Choir School in Budapest. While the school’s main focus was on choral singing, from the second year onward, all students were required to choose an instrument. Eszter chose the violin and quickly fell in love with making music through it.
From a young age, she has always expressed herself best through music, whether by singing or using different instruments. Music is an integral part of her, and playing classical music allows her to feel connected to history, while she constantly strives to weave her own personal elements and interpretations into her performances.
She is currently continuing her studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Music with Peter Herresthal as her violin professor.
