Hjalmar Bjerner is a viola player and composer based in Oslo, currently studying at the Norwegian Academy of Music under Lene Grenager. He has a background in classical music, having performed as an orchestral and quartet musician with the Ungdomssymfonikerne and the Ung kvartettserie. However, he often explores a playful, light-hearted and popular style in his compositional work. In 2021, he won the Midgard Competition’s composition prize for his solo piece “Liten Låt i A Major,” and he is now engaged with several commissions and projects, both in Norway and abroad.
