Lea von Hofacker

Lea von Hofacker is a violinist and a student at the Norwegian Academy of Music.

She began playing the violin when she was five years old, inspired by her grandmother, who was a violinist. At the age of eleven, she joined Barratt Due’s talent program and later the advanced study program in Bergen, where they had monthly gatherings with theory lessons, private lessons, chamber music, and chamber orchestra. In 2020, she joined the Bergen Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and has mostly served as section leader for the second violins. That same year, she started at the music program at Langhaugen High School, where Per Gisle Haagenrud was her teacher. Today, she studies with Peter Herresthal at the Norwegian Academy of Music.

She has always had a passion for chamber music. The interaction with other musicians and the creative process is something she finds incredibly rewarding and enjoyable. She has played in a string quartet for many years, and later in duos and a piano trio. In 2021, she and Olga Melby Larsson won first prize in their category at the UMM competition, where they were named “Talent of the Year.” She enjoys many different kinds of music, including jazz and folk music from various cultures. Moving forward, she would like to explore and learn how to play these genres.
