Eszter Elias

Eszter Elias is 18 years old and plays the violin. She grew up in Hungary but moved to Sweden nine years ago. She has been studying at Lilla Akademiens Musikgymnasium in Stockholm, where she has had many opportunities to develop her musical skills. In addition to solo work, she has performed in orchestras, ensembles, and chamber music groups. In several of these, she has also had the chance to perform as a soloist. In 2023, she was awarded the Ingrid and Per Welin Scholarship and was nominated for the Royal Academy of Music’s Youth Scholarship in 2024. Eszter has participated in masterclasses with the Marmen Quartet, Priya Mitchell, Hugo Ticciati, Eszter Perényi, and Julia Kretz-Larsson, and she has taught lessons both inside and outside the school.

With her quartet, where she plays first violin, she has performed at events such as the Opening Ceremony of the Swedish Parliament, attended by leading politicians and members of the royal family. The quartet was nominated for the Bifrost Order Scholarship for two consecutive years and won the O/Modernt Scholarship to Estonia.

She began playing the violin at the age of seven at Zoltán Kodály’s Hungarian Choir School in Budapest. While the school’s main focus was choral singing, all students were required to choose an instrument from their second year onwards. Eszter chose the violin and quickly fell in love with making music through it.

From a young age, music has been her primary means of expression, whether through singing or playing different instruments. Music is an integral part of her life, and performing classical music allows her to connect with history while continuously striving to bring her own personality and interpretations into her performances.

She is currently continuing her studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Music with Peter Herresthal as her violin professor.
