Lea von Hofacker

Lea von Hofacker is a violinist and a student at the Norwegian Academy of Music.

She began playing the violin at the age of five, inspired by her grandmother, who was also a violinist. At eleven, she joined Barratt Due’s talent programme and later the advanced study programme in Bergen, where participants met monthly for theory classes, individual lessons, chamber music, and chamber orchestra. In 2020, she joined the Bergen Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, where she has primarily served as section leader of the second violins. That same year, she began the music programme at Langhaugen Upper Secondary School, where she studied with Per Gisle Haagenrud. She currently studies with Peter Herresthal at the Norwegian Academy of Music.

Lea has always had a strong passion for chamber music. She finds the interaction with fellow musicians and the creative process both deeply rewarding and enjoyable. She has played in a string quartet for many years and later performed in duos and a piano trio. In 2021, she and Olga Melby Larsson won First Prize in their category at the UMM competition and were named “Talent of the Year.” She enjoys many different musical styles, including jazz and folk music from various cultures. Looking ahead, she hopes to further explore and develop her skills in these genres.
