Anna-Eva Bergman (1909-87) is counted among the leading Norwegian visual artists of her generation and belongs to the so-called École de Paris, which can be seen as the French equivalent of American Abstract Expressionism.
Kurt Schwitters (1887-1948) lived for several years in Norway and has had a major influence on many of today’s artists. The Henie Onstad Art Centre in Bærum exhibits the largest permanent presentation of Schwitters outside Germany; highlighting his close ties to Norway.
