Andreas Grimstad

Andreas Grimstad (b. 2001), is pursuing his Master studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music under Lars Anders Tomter, Peter Herresthal, and Henning Kraggerud. He has performed extensively in and around Norway and has also appeared as a chamber musician in the Netherlands and Italy. Andreas took part in various festivals such as Oslo Chamber Music Festival and Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival (Lucca, Italy), playing chamber music with world renowned musicians such as Anna Fedorova, Louisa Tuck, Elise Båtnes, Jan Bjøranger and Sonoko Miriam Welde, among others. Andreas has also been soloist with renowned orchestras in Norway, such as the Trondheim Soloists, and Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. He appeared on Norwegian television and radio stations.

Andreas began learning violin with his grandfather Erling Grimstad at the age of 3,

entering the talent program at Norwegian University of Science and Technology at the age of 14, and then started playing the viola as well. He studied with Sven Olav Lyngstad, Ole Wuttudal, and Bård Monsen. Additionaly, Andreas has had the opportunity to receive lessons from Antoine Tamestit, Lawrence Power, Nils Mönkemeyer, Jan Bjøranger, Paul Cortese, Henning Kraggerud, Peter Herresthal, and Stephan Barratt-Due, among others.

Since 2018, Andreas has been awarded several prizes and scholarships such as 1st prize and «inspirasjonspris» in the Norwegian UMM competition and the Midgard Competition.
